Meet Janet

Janet Asante Sullivan is a Ghanaian-born artist residing in Virginia for over 40 years, her work explores simple, ordinary moments. Janet is inspired by her surroundings, history, people, places and timeless, earthy things. In her artworks, she explores themes of womanhood, solitude, silence and time.

Working mostly with oils, she paints figures and portraits always trying to capture atmosphere, reflection, sense of place and mood.

Janet orients her life and art around her personal core values: ease, solitude, connection, courage, freedom and knowledge.

In addition to her art practice, Janet is an executive leadership coach for leaders in law, media, technology and nonprofit organizations.
